Chris Evans MP takes part in Poppy ride in support of the Royal British Legion.

Nov 4, 2021

This week Islwyn MP cycled 2.5 km in 5 minutes while taking part in the Poppy ride alongside other MPs.

The Poppy Ride, in association with the RBL, raises funds and awareness for the Poppy Appeal in Parliament, in the centenary year of the end of WWI.

All money raised on the day helps The Royal British Legion provide lifelong financial, social, and emotional support for the Armed Forces community – serving men and women, veterans, and their families.

MPs and Peers have taken part in the 12-hour static bike ride, each cycling as far as they can on an exercise bike in 5 minutes; trying to beat their colleagues to top the leader board.

Chris Evans MP said ‘It was great to take part in the Poppy ride to support the Royal British Legion.

RBL do so much to support our Armed Forces families and veterans all across the country and especially in Islwyn. I was proud to do my small bit to support them in their amazing work’

The Royal British Legion said  ‘As we reflect on our achievements over the last 100 years, we know they are not ours alone.

The RBL has always been supported by a network of volunteers, members, fundraisers, and partner organisations who share our passion for bringing people together to support, commemorate and celebrate our Armed Forces community.

During 2021, we are firmly focused on our future. Our proud heritage and 100 years of experience supporting the Armed Forces community have built the strong foundations of an organisation fit for the next 100.’
