Islwyn MP supports summer reading challenge

Jun 29, 2022

Chris Evans MP is this week supporting the Reading Agency who have teamed up with the Science Musuem for the 2022 Summer Reading Challenge, which begins in Wales on Saturday 9th July.

Mr Evans is encouraging families from across Wales to get involved with this year’s reading challenge. This year’s theme is ‘Gadgeteers’, which is all about discovering the world through science and innovation. Developed in partnership with the Science Musuem and supported by the Welsh Government.

The Challenge aims to inspire children across Britian to use their curiosity and creativity to discover science and celebrates the role of imagination in both reading and in the sciences.

Over the summer, the Science Musuem Group will be offering opportunities and activities for UK public libraries, primary schools and online to engage with the theme of science and innovation and spark children’s imaginations. The Book Collection is comprised of 67 amazing titles for children of all reading levels aged 4-11.

Chris Evans MP for Islwyn said

“Reading can take children to places they have never visited and open their mind up to ideas they have never thought of.

This year’s Summer reading challenge is a great way to get our kids’ reading more as the challenge offers rewards for each book they finish.

It is so important we encourage our children to read and that we read with them”
