Chris Evans MP, Shadow Minister for Defence Procurement, met with Rolls Royce on Wednesday 7th July to visit their factory in Filton. He met with Dave Gordon, the Senior Vice President and Director UK, along with Trade Union Representatives to discuss their current and future work.
Discussions ranged from plans on achieving net-zero, to plans for nuclear powered space exploration. Mr Evans said that the innovation and focus on sustainable power was clear throughout all their projects, as well as the commitment to Research and Development, and in training apprentices and future engineers.
Mr Evans said after the visit:
“What Rolls Royce are doing right now is fascinating, they are constantly looking to what the future of energy systems will look like, and how to effectively and sustainably power the future.
“Their investment in apprenticeships and graduate programmes demonstrates their clear understanding of the need of to recruit and train people for these highly-skilled jobs.
