Chris Evans MP celebrates Love Parks Week 2022

Aug 1, 2022

This week Chris Evans MP is celebrating Love Parks Week 2022 and is encouraging people across his constituency to go out and explore their local park.

In Islwyn, there is a wide variety of green spaces, including Cwmcarn Forest drive, Blackwood showfields and Waunfawr Park. There are also great parks in the wider area such as Parc Penallta and Parc Cwm Darren.

Run by Keep Britain Tidy, Love Parks Week 2022 aims to celebrate and support the efforts of volunteers and workers up and down the country to maintain and protect our green spaces.

The Islwyn MP is encouraging as many people as possible to go out to their local park to walk, exercise or simply sit and enjoy. Parks are great places to get fresh air and walking around them can help to boost your mental health.

Parks are also a valuable part of our community and a recent YouGov Survey revealed that visiting the park is the highlight of the day for 62% of dog owners, and 62% of parents agreed that it is the highlight of their child’s day too.

Speaking on Love Parks Week, Chris Evans MP said:

“The pandemic highlighted just how important being able to escape to outdoor spaces can be. Love Parks Weeks is the perfect time to visit your local park or travel and explore somewhere new”

“Love Parks Week is also a good opportunity to pay thanks to those volunteers who work hard maintaining our parks and keeping spaces looking beautiful all year round”

Love Park Week 2022 is taking place between July 29th – August 5th 2022
