Chris Evans MP supports Mental Health Awareness Week

May 22, 2023

Chris Evans MP marks mental health awareness week. This year’s mental health awareness week is marking the effect of the cost-of-living crisis on people’s mental health.

The mental health of nearly half (48%) of people in England and Wales has been negatively affected by the cost-of-living crisis, rising to nearly three quarters (73%) for those with an existing mental health problem. This is according to new research released today from the mental health charity Mind to mark the start of Mental Health Awareness Week.

The Islwyn MP is urging those who are struggling with their mental health due to the cost-of-living crisis to seek help. The charity Mind is offering mental health support to those who are worried about the cost-of-living crisis and more information about this can be found at www.mind.org.uk/cost-of-living/

Chris Evans MP said

‘I know this is a very worrying time for many people who are struggling with the cost of living.

It is important people know support is available and that if their mental health has been impacted, they should reach out to friends, family, charities such as Mind or their GP.’
