The constituency of Islwyn, which I have represented as Member of Parliament since May 6th 2010, comprises a wide range of towns and villages in the South Wales Valleys including Risca, Crosskeys, Pontywaun, Abercarn, Cwmcarn, Newbridge, Crumlin, Trinant, Oakdale, Croespenmaen, Argoed, Hollybush, Markham, Blackwood, Pontllanfraith, Cefn Fforest, Aberbargoed, Pengam, Maesycwmmer, Wyllie, Ynysddu, Cwmfelinfach and Wattsville.

Islwyn has been represented in the National Assembly for Wales since May 2016 by Rhianon Passmore AM (website here). Islwyn is also part of the South Wales East Assembly region, and is part of the European Parliamentary constituency of Wales.

Islwyn forms roughly half of the Caerphilly County Borough Council local authority area, and the various communities are represented by 31 County Councillors. A number of Town and Community Councils operate in the Islwyn constituency, which are Argoed Community Council, Blackwood Town Council, Maesycwmmer Community Council, Risca East Community Council (Ty Sign) and Risca Town Council (including Risca Town, Pontymister and Ocherwyth).
